What kind of support does divergence offer outside of assessment?
In addition to assessment and treatment with medications, divergence offers support focused on understanding, practical strategies and navigating available options.
This may include:
· Guidance and information
· Structured programmes
· Community-based support
· Learning resources
The aim is to help people understand their situation and identify what support or approach is most helpful. Not all support requires a diagnosis.
Support is designed to be flexible and accessible, so that people can engage with it in a way that suits their needs and circumstances. Some people use support alongside assessment, while others use it independently.
The aim is to make support accessible, practical and relevant, regardless of whether you choose to pursue a clinical pathway.
Who can access divergence’s community support?
Community support may be relevant for a wide range of people, including:
· Adults with ADHD
· People who think they may have ADHD
· Families, partners and carers
· Professionals
· Anyone who wants to better understand ADHD
People access community support at different stages. Some are exploring whether ADHD may be relevant to them, while others may already have a diagnosis and are looking for practical ways to understand and manage their experiences.
What is the ADHD Exchange?
The ADHD Exchange is a drop-in support space that provides an opportunity to ask questions, gain understanding and explore your options in a practical and accessible way.
It is designed for a wide range of people, including:
· Adults with ADHD or suspected ADHD
· Family members, partners and carers
· Professionals
· Anyone who wants to better understand ADHD
The ADHD Exchange currently runs at Felling Family Hub in Gateshead on Tuesdays from 10am–12pm. It is a drop-in session, so booking is not usually required.
The focus is not on diagnosis, but on providing information, support and guidance to help people understand their situation and decide what to do next.
For some people, this provides a starting point before considering assessment. For others, it is simply a space to gain clarity, ask questions and explore what might be helpful.
What is the PEACE programme?
PEACE is a structured post-diagnostic programme designed to help people better understand ADHD and how it affects them.
It typically covers areas such as:
· Perception
· Emotions
· Acceptance
· Coping strategies
· Empowerment
The aim is to provide practical understanding that can be applied in everyday life, helping people make sense of their experiences and develop approaches that work for them.
The programme is designed to move beyond information alone, supporting people to reflect on their experiences and apply what they learn in a meaningful way.
Does divergence offer digital support?
Yes. divergence provides digital support through its app, online resources, blog content, podcast material and community spaces.
These are designed to provide accessible ADHD information, ongoing learning and connection outside of appointments or in-person sessions.
Digital support can be used independently or alongside other services, depending on what is most helpful.
Can I access support without going through assessment?
Yes — in many cases, support can be accessed without going through a full assessment.
Some people choose to focus on understanding and practical support rather than diagnosis.
Others may use support before deciding whether assessment is appropriate.
Support is not dependent on diagnosis, and you do not need to follow a clinical pathway in order to access it
Can you help me understand my options even if I don’t use your services?
Yes — part of the role of divergence is to help people understand the options available to them.
This may include explaining NHS services, Right to Choose pathways, independent providers, or support-based approaches.
You are free to choose whichever option is most appropriate for you, and there is no expectation that you need to use divergence's clinical services in order to access support.
How do you protect my privacy?
Our clinic is regulated by the Care Quality Commission who have clear standards that any health and social care provider must meet. We use "Semble" as our records system and they are continually working to ensure that the highest standards of data security are maintained.
