Sara Jay

Director / Neurodevelopmental Nurse Specialist

Sara is an advanced ADHD Nurse Specialist and Non-medical Prescriber with experience in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment across the lifespan. She has 24 years of nursing experience working in various settings, including Adult Mental Health, Addictions, Child & Young People's Services, and Forensic Services. With both professional knowledge and personal experience, Sara is an ADHD service user who received a later-life diagnosis, and she is also a mother to two children diagnosed in their teenage years with ADHD and Autism. This background enhances her professional skills and allows for a robust, holistic assessment, providing a deeper understanding of the impact symptoms and impairments have on individuals.


Sara qualified to teach learners aged 16 and over in 2003 and completed her non-medical prescribing V300 in 2019. She has worked in a variety of areas, including adult acute inpatient wards and adult community settings within the NHS, such as Community Mental Health Teams and Prison Mental Health In-Reach. Additionally, she served as a Criminal Justice Liaison Specialist Nurse, providing assessment and diversion for those detained in police custody and remand courts, as well as engaging with probation services. Sara has also worked in Adult Addictions services, providing assessment to clients with complex needs who may struggle to engage, and has held roles as a specialist practitioner in Children and Young People's Services and Adult Neurodevelopmental Services, focusing on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for ADHD across the lifespan.
