Health & Energy Tips

Hey everyone 👋 As we have just started 2026 I thought it would be a good idea to ask about the top energy and health tips we have all come across for our ADHD.

Personally, my chronic fatigue and insomnia is my cryptonite so I am on a bit of a quest to find ways to increase my energy and overall health - and I am sure I am not the only one!

I have come to learn that alcohol, high sugar drinks, gluten (and potentially dairy) are essential for me to avoid. That may sound obvious but I relied on each one of them to get me through the harder days! It has been much easier for me to find

what I should avoid over what I should prioritise - the sugar addiction doesn’t help either 😅

So please share your tips! You never know how many of us…

Hi Dee, I personally find that if I have a strong focus on diet, exercise and meditation, with a solid structure/routine to my day it really helps me. In terms of diet I aim for high protein/low sugar, with a steady amount of carbs to maintain steady energy levels. I try to make sure I’ve got my quota of iron, zinc, magnesium, omega 3’s and certain amino acids within my diet as well. There’s a bit of science behind the benefits of these for people with ADHD and I personally notice a big difference if I’m not able to get these…I try to eat smaller amounts but regularly and usually have quick and easy alternatives to hand as well if I don’t have time or can’t be bothered to prepare meals (as well as supplements if I’m not getting what I need in my diet or if I’m skipping meals). Hydration for me is really important and I drink gallons of diluting juice a day. In terms of exercise I try to go to the gym 3 times a week (Mon/Wed/Fri) so that I’m getting a regular and steady neurotransmitter boost and do a lot of walking with the dog 🐶. For meditation I just do this as and when I need to (usually a relaxation one to help calm me down if I’m getting overwhelmed). I try to slot the above into my daily routine, along with a few other things which again helps me. Getting enough sleep’s really important as well and although I do have quite a good routine and take melatonin I still regularly struggle with this, although would probably struggle more if I didn’t do what I do 😂 Everybody’s different though and people have busy lives so what works for one might not work for another for whatever reason, but the above certainly helps me 👍

You should have received an invite to the closed group. If you can’t find that let me know here.

Discovered this on iPhones today, I think it might only be available on the most recent iOS. Thought I’d share because although there are other options out there this is very slick and will make a huge difference to my day. https://youtu.be/-ir_hrbFHMk?si=HkGKVHJ3YiQDS0yx

This post has reminded me that we want a tech “aides” resource here. I have my ideas but if folks have found things that are helpful we could host a list of links of suggestions like this. If you think this would be helpful then please comment - better still comment with apps and tech that you’ve found helpful. I will the create a page in a quiet moment which others can benefit from. And….. go team……
