Hi all, this could be a fun/sideways one... Do we have collective experience of Chillio? It's a "support platform" aimed at helping ND folks get stuff done, regulate, blah blah. I signed up on the website for a reduced price trial back in January, thinking I'd get something out of it. I of course forgot to use it much, didn't really engage with it and left it at that to think about it another day. A couple of weeks ago I had a charge for the full year - as was "agreed" to by signing up. The trouble I'm having is that for a platform openly aimed at supporting ways to manage ADHD, there was no kind of correspondence from them to even remind me of its existence from the beginning, no update emails, nothing. Not courtesy, nevermind accommodation. Their suggestion was that I should have set a reminder to cancel. Haven't we all heard that 1000 times? I wasn't even sure how to cancel until after the fact, seemingly an email to them rather than through the app/website. They've offered a 30% reduction as a gesture. Looking for some hive support, as to if I should take it further and sass at them, or just accept their (probably well rehearsed) offer and chalk it to being another ND tax. Thanks! L

Funnily enough that is very on topic for divergence. I’d first like to acknowledge that I’m aware someone is trying to do the same with this app’s paid subscription and for that person I assure them there will be a full backdated refund as soon as I can get to fix that issue.
I am in discussions with a similar app developer and we both feel that more needs to be done on this topic. Hopefully those conversations will come to something a little more user friendly.
There is a requirement for clear instructions on how to close down such a subscription so one avenue could be to argue that they did not make close down appropriately clear. You’ll have to ensure you haven’t missed any prompt emails about the end of trial as those would be a solid defense in law, even though we at divergence know it’s not that simple. Passive resistance is an option with just not responding as is it in the company’s interest to pursue for the “due” amount. Depends on the amount.
A cautionary tale about such subscriptions. We are trying to source something that is respectful of ADHD out there in the market, we are actively in conversations about it, the product we are looking at as yet is not good enough for us to recommend but we are working with the company to iron out these types of issue.
Apps are only as good as the input they get from their users and only then is it about how they work. Ive trialled a few and found the same: good idea that doesn’t work with ADHD. As soon as we can bring you something like this (and we are on it) we will let you know.
